“Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand- our thought leader for the fifth session of Leadership Development Series was Dr.Adheet Gogte, Head, Healthcare transformation Services, India, Philips Healthcare.

As Head of Healthcare Transformation Services for India, Dr.Gogte, leads Philips' strategic partnerships with healthcare systems to offer end-to-end, patient-centric solutions across the continuum of care. Their customized solutions and services are designed to improve clinical outcomes, operational effectiveness and enterprise financial stability while improving access, affordability and availability of care.

The session took a start with the talk on key trends that will shape the future of Indian Healthcare industry. The major problems faced by the Indian healthcare market as explained by Dr.Gogte were the following:

· Growth- which is neither irreversible nor certain.
·  Cost challenge- the WHY and HOW of the spiraling healthcare costs.
·     Accessibility- can be improved by increasing the manpower in terms of doctors, nurses, paramedics and also making available the basic infrastructural facilities.

The means of approaching and solving these challenges were also discussed which was more of an interactive session. Few of the key solutions were the following: Internal and external environmental harmonization- this requires change in order to bring the change.
The focus should be on acquiring the required resources.
Dr. Gogte appealed to the students by saying that, “We need to lift the cover of problems to get a real solution”. He upheld the fact that we, the young citizens of ou country need to think and act wisely to bring in the intended change. He finally concluded by giving us a brief insight and explaining our roles and responsibilities in the medical equipment industry.
