TRAINING SESSION ON PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
The
three day training session was held i.e13th,15th and 17th
July 2015 for MBA-HHM batch 2015-17.
The
sessions were taken by Miss Christine D.Patham who has a vast experience
in marketing with many reputed companies, after which she moved to work as an HRD trainer, which was a
paradigm shift in her career. Here she realised that she wanted to do something
more than just being in a desk job decided
to take her passion as a trainer . The sessions were based on various
topics involving the overall personality development.
July-13th : PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
AND BRAND YOU!
This
was first session , emphasis was on
Ø Realisation
and increased potential
Ø Credibility,
Ø Enhancing
leadership role
Ø Strengthening
morality
Ø Ethics
for future.
The
elevator pitch concept was the new idea of
introduction we learnt, which helped us define ourselves in 60seconds in a
short and crisp way, which can be used on meeting someone for the first time
and also introduction.
This
tool is well used in interviews where most of the time interview panel start
with OK -
Second emphasis was on basic etiquettes of greeting–
Ø Firm
hand shake,
Ø conversing
in a polite yet confident tone
Ø Pitch
of communication
Ø Warm
smile on our face
Ø All
this can make a lot of difference when we interact with someone.
In the second half she
gave us the activity on imagination –
“Keeping our eyes closed
and imagining the sky.”
After the beautiful
imagination came the surprising meanings behind the visions which gave an insight
to what our basic nature is.
The second activity was
on the type of personality, various
questions were put forward and the results stood for the different types of
personalities according to the human psychology.
July 15th: COMMUNICATION SKILLS,DRESS
SENSE,DINING ETIQUETTES AND STRESS MANAGEMENT.
The second session was
held on 15h July, where we were told the importance of being a good listener
and how we tend to misinterpret things by not paying attention or not being
able to understand what a person says.
The emphasis of a word and how it changes the interpretation of
an entire statement was something to wonder about!
The next topic she spoke
of was the importance of having a good dressing
sense.
Smart managers should not only talk smart but
also look smart. The first impression which is
created is always by what we wear and how we carry ourselves, examples of how
appropriate clothing plays a major role in judging people and it should be according
to the occasion.
Dining etiquettes was
something which was one of the most interesting topics of the day, where she
helped us know the American and British styles of dining using various cutlery
and glasses too.
The second Half was about
stress management where we
were introduced to the terms “eustress”
(positive stress”) and “distress” (negative stress). She explained how
worrying about future and fear of repeating mistakes of the past can result in
stress. We got encouraged for not regretting over the past and learning from
mistakes by getting rid of our weakness.
This was followed by a
series of stress awareness tests which helped us understand the reactions we
give on certain situations and how satisfied we are from our profession and
work.
The day ended with a very
inspiring and indeed heart touching video of Nick Vujicic, who taught us the importance
of life and that we should seize the day with beautiful memories and live each
day with high spirits and joy.
July 17thTIME MANAGEMENT AND TEAM BUILDING.
The third and last day was
on time management when we
had been asked to imagine what we would do if we had Rs.86,400 with us.The
class spent the next 5 minutes fantasizing about the huge amount of money,at
the end of which we got to know that those were the number of seconds we had in
a day and the things we chose to do with the money were the ways we chose to
spend our entire day.A quick realisation of this fact followed a set of tests which
gave us an insight of how much we value time and how we can manage our day
better by changing a few things.
In the second half we
were given the example of Steven
Covey’s “90/10 Principle” which talks about how we can simplify our
life by only changing our reactions to the situations, if not being able to
stop them from happening.
This was followed by
“Steven Covey’s Urgency Index” test which stood by the principle of “First Things First”.
After this she spoke of
the Biorhythm or Biological Clock and said that everyone has their “peaks” and “troughs” of energy
throughout the day. This was followed by a talk on-
Ø Team
building& team work help us understand the importance of team work
Ø One
leader in a team and team member are equally important
Ø Role
of co-ordination- important role in teamwork
Ø Case
study which ended the session.
Sessions like these are
not only been informative, but also interactive where we learnt a lot of things
which may not be a part of our academics, but are essential qualities which
will help us transform fromMBA
graduates into “SMART MANAGERS”.
These are the values
which we need to inculcate in ourselves that will make us responsible and
reliable and through which we will understand how to prioritize things and deal
with situations which will make us stronger and successful in every walk of
life
“Through practicing and adopting them as a way of
life.”
We, batch of MBA-HHM
2015-17 look forward to have more of such sessions which will help us grow
beyond the bounds of our limitations and build our confidence.

Blood Donation Campaign Report - Campaigning Team
The aim of blood donation campaign was to generate awareness on
Blood Donation and highlight its significance in saving lives during
emergencies. Symbiosis center for healthcare organizes a Blood Donation Camp
every year in collaboration with many Blood Banks. The campaign organised by Symbiosis
center for Healthcare, in co-operation with various Blood Banks gathered a
large number of Staff and students who voluntarily donated their blood for the
Symbiosis Blood Donation Camp 2015.
Ever since the date for the blood drive
was announced, along with SCHC doctors, students worked very hard to promote
this blood drive amongst the students of symbiosis college to participate
and donate blood. We the students of MBA HHM 2015-17 were involved in a campaign
committee where we had to perform a skit at different campuses of symbiosis. Some
of our batchmates were selected for voice modulation for the skit and had the
opportunity to record at symbiosis studios Lavale. The campaigning team Group 2
were assigned Lavale, Vimannagar and Hinjewadi Campus for performing the skit.

It was a wonderful experience spreading awareness and motivating
the students. Besides performing skit, we also promoted the drive by
holding the posters with different slogans like DONATE BLOOD SAVE LIFE and
encouraged as many students as possible in campus, canteen and mess. As a
result, there was an overwhelming response from the donors with their participation
in this noble cause. The teaching
and non teaching staff donated their blood along with the students after
undergoing pre-screening medical tests that cleared them for donation.

total of 1898 Blood Bags were collected from all the campuses of Symbiosis
University. Many of our members also donated blood, and became part of the

EID AAYI HAI!!!
Hawa Ko Khusbo MUBARAK,
Fiza Ko Mausam MUBARAK,
Dilon Ko Pyar MUBARAK,
Aapko Hamari Taraf Se..
EID MUBARAK!
After a long month of “roza” and prayers , finally the much
awaited festival of EID had arrived. And the entire cultural committee was on
the preparation spree. The brainstorming had started and all the members were
actively putting forward their suggestions.
The plans were done, tasks divided and all were on their toes to make
this a successful one.
And then the day arrived!!!
All gals were beautifully dressed in anarkali suits looking like “Begams”
and all the handsome hunks looked like “Badshahs”!!It was a visual treat to
watch. After all the decorations and last minute”okay fine, we are on!!, the
function started at 5 pm.
After this our
Director, Dr Rajiv yeravdekar addressed the gathering. He stressed on a very
true fact that it is not religion which creates divisons but the people
themselves. It was therefore necessary to promote a feeling of harmony and
brotherhood amongst ourselves. Finally class representative Mr Shahin Basheer proposed the vote of thanks. Sweets
were distributed to all of them and the programme ended.
On the whole, It was a wonderful experience. At the end of
the day everyone were satisfied with their work. We had managed to bring a
sense of celebration for those missing the festival. We made them feel
home!!and YES indeed,” SIHS is a home away from home!!!”
Their smiles said it all!!!!

PANDHARPUR WARI 2015
- Padyatra of the
Warkaris
“I do not need to visit other sites of pilgrimage
when my whole family has the tradition of going to Pandharpur”. This translated
dictum of Sant Tukaram, affirms the divine bliss of the age old tradition of
Maharashtra which is famously known as the ‘WARI’.

Every on the year eleventh day of the bright moon in the month of
Aashaadh, an ocean of devotees leave behind their luxuries, walk through highs
and lows only to catch a glimpse of their Lord
Vitthal. The palakhi of Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj &
Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj starts from Alandi & Dehu respectively with much
zeal and gusto. The Palakhis then proceed to Pandharpur, the home of Vithoba –
Rakhumai. The Wari tradition has been unbroken and
followed with utmost faith for the past 800 years. This year too, the
Palakhis started their 23 day journey to mauli’s abode via Pune which had the
warkaris walking , dancing and singing abhangs
in the holy name of Lord Vitthal. This long journey that the warkar is
travel barefoot is called “wari”. This grand procession was welcomed by
Punekars’ on 10th July 2015.
Keeping up with its tradition since the last few
years, this year too, from 10th July to 12th July 2015, Symbiosis Centre of
Health Care (SCHC) and Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) in
association with Mrs. Sheela Salve Memorial Trust, arranged four mobile medical
units to offer free medical services by emergency medical practitioners for
warkaris. Whilst the MBA students of Hospital & Health care Management,
SIHS looked after the overall logistics & management of the event.
The Inaugural ceremony was organized at Vishwabhavan,
Symbiosis. Mr. Sharad Ranpise, MLA, inaugurated the medical services by
Symbiosis for the warkaris and delivered an inaugural speech. This was followed
by an address by Mr. Sumeet Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Pune. Dr. S. B.
Mujumdar, President & Founder,
Symbiosis elaborated on the Symbiosis initiative in the Community Outreach
Program. Mrs. S. S. Mujumdar Hon. Director, AMM Symbiosis; Dr. Vidya
Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis; Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Dean, Faculty
of Health & Biomedical Sciences, Symbiosis and Mr. Avinash Salve, Ex-
Corporator PMC and many dignitaries attended & expressed their opinion on
this noble initiative spearheaded by Symbiosis & Sheela Salve Memorial
Trust.
This was followed by the departure of the mobile
medical units for the wari from Symbiosis campus to specified locations.
Our Ambulance No.1, with all necessary medical aid
kits and drug supply which included analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs,
anti-diarrheal, supply of ORS, Sprain relief sprays, balms, anti histamines and
antibiotics, was stationed at Vishrant
Wadi on the 1st day of this medical
services inititative. The moment we
reached our destination, we were awestruck at the sea of warkaris, embarking on
their three-week long pilgrimage to Pandharpur that would continue till
Ashadhie
kadashi
The sight
was just overwhelming. Divided into several “dindis” (groups), some carried idols
of Dnyaneshwar and Tukaram on their heads, while a few others carried “tulsi”
pots. Several warkaris swayed holding saffron flags. The old, the infirm, men
and women walked hand in hand to honour their commitment to the tradition of
“wari.” Seeing the sea of people before us, our minds were filled of
anxiety, excitement, certain apprehensions since we all had never worked in
such a big event before.
·
The first group brought the
ever increasing crowd under control.
·
The second group created the log of all the patients getting
treated
·
The third group helped the
EMS students by giving them medicines from the ambulance
·
The fourth group organised medicines and looked after the food and
water requirements of Symbiosis students.

Also, we encountered an emergency case when a
warkari collapsed to the ground owing to an epileptic attack. Thanks to the
prompt medical attention extended by the symbians, a fatality was averted.
In between our work we also found got time to
interact with the warkaris, they shared their experience till now and we took
photographs with them too.
Language
barrier was overcome by crude but highly effective sign language with the
incorporation of a few marathi words. Many non Marathi students found a unique
opportunity to learn a few Marathi words. After the initial chaos things
eventually settled and progressed smoothly. Everybody got acquainted and
comfortable with their roles. The day ended at 5pm and we had successfully
provided medical aid to 2240 patients on day one.
After packing up some
MBA students walked along with the warkaris all the way
back to SIHS. They walked the 9-10 kilometres dancing, enjoying and being part
of this devotional journey.
We were touched by the devotion of the warkaris,
who paying no heed to the scorching heat and heavy rains, continued walking,
dancing and chanting abhangs during their
sojourn in Pune. Taking pains in a stride, submitting themselves to vitthal
bhakti, the determination and dedication of the warkaris was indeed a learning
experience.
